How Soon Can I Get More Liposuction

You've had liposuction. Your body was perfect, just like you imagined, but perhaps you were unable to maintain that dream physique. Even if you're dieting and exercising just the way you had planned after liposuction, sometimes, it's not enough. You also may still be losing weight and have stubborn fat clinging to a specific area, even after undergoing liposuction. At GLOW Surgical Arts, we always recommend a healthy diet and steady exercise following any liposuction procedure. We also understand that you may be considering further liposuction to achieve your aesthetic goals. Our Redwood City cosmetic surgeons Dr. Renee Marshal and Dr. Paul Gorman want you to consider some very important questions first.

Have you been dieting and exercising?

You should consider whether or not you have done everything possible to lose the fat that you want removed. Having liposuction should not be viewed as the simplest option to remove troublesome fat.

Have you considered the cost?

Paying for repeat liposuction isn't going to be significantly different than the initial liposuction in that area. In fact, the second course of liposuction may be more expensive than the original surgery, as repeat liposuction is more complicated than the initial procedure.

What is causing your weight gain?

Do you believe that this surgery will solve your residual issues or are you at risk of gaining weight again? If you think you will put the weight back on, then it may be time for you to consider other options to prevent you from gaining weight in the future. Rather than constantly reshaping your body, maybe there is a deeper issue.

Have you considered the procedure itself?

Repeat liposuction procedures may be more complicated than the original procedure, mainly due to internal tissue changes. Your surgeon needs to consider the amount of fat that can be removed safely without extra bruising, swelling, or undesirable contour changes. Your recovery from repeat liposuction may be similar to the first time, but you will likely need some assistance during the recovery period.

Have you considered that fat is a necessary part of the body?

Keep in mind that fat is a functional necessity. It may be that your original liposuction removed as much fat as possible. You may not be gaining weight. Instead, you are simply unhappy with your results. Repeat liposuction is not offered to people who already have had all the unnecessary fat removed.

Liposuction in Redwood City

You've asked yourself all of the important questions. If you're still considering a second round of liposuction then you need to schedule a consultation with your original cosmetic surgeon, who will need to determine your eligibility for repeat treatment. Your initial surgeon may not be comfortable with repeat liposuction. In this case, you may want to find a surgeon who is more experienced in repeat liposuction procedures.

Liposuction is a common cosmetic procedure, and occasionally a second procedure is warranted. If you're interested in repeat liposuction, though, our educated and experienced staff need to make sure you've considered all the variables. In the Bay Area, Dr. Renee Marshall and. Paul Gorman want to help you determine if a repeat procedure is right for you. Contact GLOW Surgical Arts today if you live in the Redwood City. CA or greater San Francisco Bay Area at (650) 241-2209 to schedule a consultation.
