What is a Weekend Facelift?

Weekend faceliftNo, it's not a facelift that's only performed on a Saturday or Sunday. It's called a weekend facelift because patients generally need only a few days to heal.

Therefore, you can have the procedure performed on a Thursday and return to work the following Tuesday. Hence, a "weekend facelift."

The weekend facelift (or mini-lift or short scar facelift) is a great option for younger men and women who have minimal-to-moderate signs of aging. It's also a good option for people who can't tolerate or don't want a traditional facelift.

What does a weekend facelift address?

A weekend facelift greatly improves the appearance of the lower face, specifically the jowls. Marionette lines — the lines between the corners of the mouth and chin — can also be remedied with a weekend facelift. The procedure tightens the facial contour and improves sagging that comes with aging.

It won't address wrinkles on the neck itself or the eyes and forehead. Many patients opt to have an eyelid lift or facial volume enhancement performed at the same time to address other areas of the face.

How is a weekend facelift done?

A weekend facelift is less invasive than a full facelift procedure. Small incisions are made in inconspicuous areas around the ears, and the skin of the lower face and neck are reshaped to create a tighter, firmer appearance. You'll have sutures following the procedure which will be removed in about a week.

Mini facelifts are usually an outpatient procedure done under local anesthetic. You won't be put to sleep, and you'll go home immediately following the two hour procedure.

What is recovery like?

Most patients recover in four to seven days. Risks are minimal, and most patients

experience much less swelling and bruising that with traditional facelifts. You may need to wear a compression garment in the days following the procedure.

What are the results like?

You won't notice a dramatic difference following a weekend facelift. In fact, most people won't even know you had anything done since the changes blend in very subtly with your appearance. Your face appears more youthful and tighter, and you'll look naturally rejuvenated and refreshed.
