What is Microneedling with PRP?
Want a fresher, more even complexion with minimal downtime?
Microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a simple way to naturally renew and rejuvenate your skin.
Patients like this skin treatment because it offers long-lasting results with virtually no downtime. It works by stimulating your skin to increase the production of collagen and elastin. These natural proteins are vital to maintaining smooth, youthful skin.
Microneedling with PRP is great for treating problems like:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Sagging, thin skin
- Acne, chicken pox and surgical scars
- Stretch marks
- Hyperpigmentation and photodamage
- Large pores
Microneedling with PRP is a highly effective treatment for the face, but it can also be used on the neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How is Microneedling with PRP Performed?
First, a small amount of blood is drawn and the plasma is separated from the blood cells. The highly concentrated platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is brushed onto your skin. Next, a physician-grade microneedling tool will be gently applied to your skin, creating hundreds of micro-punctures. The PRP is absorbed through these punctures, prompting tissue healing and cell growth.
After the microneedling tool is used, more PRP is put on your skin to ensure good penetration.
Does Microneedling Hurt?
Prior to the treatment, a topical anesthetic is spread on your skin to reduce any discomfort. The entire treatment will take about an hour, which gives the anesthetic time to work.
When Will I See Results?
You’ll notice a visible “glow” immediately following the treatment. Then, as your skin heals and collagen and elastin are produced by your body, you’ll see further effects. It may take three to six months to see full results, and you may need more than one treatment for maximum benefits.
Is Microneedling with PRP dangerous?
Not at all. The treatment uses your own plasma so there’s virtually no chance of allergic reaction. There’s minimal downtime compared to some laser treatments and chemical peels. You may have some redness for a few days, but it will be similar to a mild sunburn. And the microneedling tool doesn’t result in scar tissue formation or further skin pigmentation. You’ll walk away with smoother, softer, more beautiful skin.
