In fact, statistics show that breast augmentation has been the top cosmetic surgery procedure in the US since 2006. Furthermore, 98 percent of all women who undergo breast augmentation say that the surgery has met or exceeded their expectations. Have you been considering [breast augmentation](https://www.glowsurgicalarts.com/our-procedures/breast/breast-augmentation/)? You’re not alone! Take a look at the top five reasons this surgical procedure is popular among the masses. ## 1. Breast augmentation has a high satisfaction rate In addition to 98 percent of women admitting that breast augmentation meets or exceeds their expectations, 90 percent of women report that they benefit from increased self-esteem and self-confidence following augmentation. Most women who seek breast augmentation usually do so to increase the size of their small breasts, correct the size of asymmetrical breasts, or to improve the volume of their breasts. Also, women who undergo breast augmentation for their own personal needs and satisfaction are often happier with their results than women who have surgery solely to please a partner. ## 2. Breast augmentation is associated with an easy recovery In most cases, breast augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis, and generally takes between one and two hours to complete. As a result, recovery time is fairly short, and most women find that they can return to work within a week. However, this factor is dependent on the type of job, since women who engage in strenuous physical activities on a regular basis may need extra time to recover and relax before they can go back to work. ## 3. Breast implants are safer than ever Breast implants in the US are either filled with silicone or saline solution, and have been approved for safety and efficacy by the FDA. The silicone in silicone implants is cohesive, and the implants are designed in a way that do not result in leakage in the event an implant is ruptured. Saline implants, on the other hand, are filled with a sterile salt-water solution comparable to that in the human body, and pose no major adverse health risks in the event that rupture should occur. ## 4. Breast augmentation results are long-lasting Today’s breast implants can last for decades at a time, and do not need to be replaced on a regular basis. However, breast implants are not intended to last for a lifetime, which is why it’s important to undergo screenings on a routine basis to detect signs of rupture. Saline implants may deflate when ruptured since saline solution is absorbed by your body, whereas silicone implants usually do not exhibit signs of rupture. ## 5. Breast augmentation can be personalized At the time of your initial consultation, you and your cosmetic surgeon will discuss the goals you want to accomplish through breast augmentation. Breast augmentation is not a one-size-fits-all procedure, and can be personalized and customized based on your goals and physical appearance. At this time, there are several types of FDA-approved implants that can be used for breast augmentation. When you make an appointment for a consultation, make sure that your cosmetic surgeon will discuss all available options to help you achieve the look you desire.
