Liposuction results are usually very long lasting. But if you gain a significant amount of weight, your body could start looking like your pre-surgery body again. While you can have liposuction again, a better option is to learn to maintain your post-treatment body.
Here are some ways to maintain the benefits of your liposuction procedure.
Eat a healthy diet
Eat a well-balanced diet that’s heavy on fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meats and complex carbs. Try to remove as many simple carbohydrates as possible. These are things like pasta, rice, and bread, which can cause your blood sugar to fluctuate and make you feel hungry more often. Plus, consuming too much sugar and saturated fat can lead to unwanted weight gain.
Exercise often
While you’re recovering, it’s best to avoid vigorous exercise. Start with short, slow walks until you feel up to more activity. Once you’ve healed, you should exercise regularly. Aerobic exercise three days a week for 30 minutes at a time will help you maintain your physique and keep your heart healthy.
Drink plenty of water
Be sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water each and every day. Staying hydrated helps your body to maintain a good metabolism, helps digestion and controls hunger. The exact amount of water you should drink will vary depending on your size. Ask your doctor what amount is right for your body type and activity level.
Don’t skip meals
It may seem counterintuitive when you’re trying to keep your weight under control, but don’t skip meals. Eating regular meals or healthy snacks keeps you from feeling hungry and subsequently overeating. Plus, you’ll have the energy you need to get through the day!
Eat small meals
Along those lines, try eating several small meals throughout the day instead of three large meals. You’ll maintain your energy and refrain from eating too much at meal time.
