Most cosmetic surgeons will tell you there is no “magic age” or special formula to determine when you should choose breast augmentation. Each woman’s situation, personality, and life is different, so it’s a deeply personal choice. So how can you make such a big decision? The following factors are good indicators that it’s the right time to consider breast augmentation:
- You’re ready to feel the confidence you deserve. The best reason to choose cosmetic surgery is for your own confidence and happiness. If you’ve been feeling unhappy with the size of your breasts, have asymmetry that bothers you, or feel that your figure is unbalanced, you’ll likely be thrilled with the results of breast augmentation surgery.
- You can take time off to recover. For several days following surgery, your body needs adequate rest and you must take a break from your daily obligations. This means you must take time off work, and get friends or family members to help you out as needed. The more seriously you take your recovery, the faster you’ll heal and be back on your feet.
- No one else is pressuring you to do it. Don’t undergo one or more cosmetic procedures for the sake of pleasing someone else. If you get breast implants to satisfy another, you may end up resenting that person and regretting your decision in the long run. Your motivation must come from within yourself, and not from others. Think about why you want larger breasts, and make sure someone else’s opinion isn’t weighing on your decision.
Your life feels pretty normal. If you’ve recently faced a divorce, breakup, death in the family, or another difficult event, wait a while before making any major decisions about cosmetic surgery. Traumatic events can cloud your judgment and make it harder for you to make decisions. Once life has settled down, decide if it’s still something you wish to do.
